Circumstances of the Injury:

On February 22, 2024, during an artillery shelling, Serhiy was stationed at his position when a blast occurred nearby. The explosion and shrapnel inflicted severe injuries on him. His comrades quickly ran to his aid, providing first aid on the spot.

Diagnosis:

• Post-explosive injury to both lower extremities (22.02.2024):
  • Traumatic crushing of the right foot and lower third of the tibia.
  • Gunshot fractures of the lower third of the left tibia, talus, and fifth metatarsal bone of the left foot.
  • Surgically treated with the formation of an amputation stump of the right lower limb at the lower third of the tibia.
  • Non-healing gunshot fractures of the bones in the left ankle joint.Details of the Injury:
    1. Explosive Injury:
       • Severe tissue damage involving bones, muscles, blood vessels, and nerves.
       • Resulted in the crushing of the right foot and tibia, necessitating amputation.
    2. Amputation Stump of the Right Limb:
       • Stump formed at the lower third of the tibia following surgical treatment of the traumatic injuries.
    3. Gunshot Fractures in the Left Limb:
       • Involvement of the tibia, talus, and fifth metatarsal bone of the left foot.
       • Non-healing fractures indicate delayed or incomplete bone union, complicating functional recovery.
