Circumstances of the Injury:

Let’s help Ruslan recover from the severe injuries he sustained during a combat mission!

In May 2024, while on a mission, Ruslan and his comrades were ambushed by enemy forces. During the firefight, he suffered his first injury—a bullet shattered his jaw, causing excruciating pain and significant blood loss. Despite this, Ruslan continued fighting, determined to lead himself and his team out of the danger zone.

As they retreated, artillery fire struck again, and shrapnel severely injured his arm. Gathering his remaining strength, Ruslan applied a tourniquet on the spot to stop the bleeding. Once the shelling ceased, he managed to crawl to the evacuation point, where help was waiting.

Diagnosis:

Gunshot wound to the right shoulder, resulting in:

• Gunshot fracture of the lower third of the humerus:
  • The fracture caused instability in the arm, with damage to the bone structure requiring surgical intervention.
• Radial nerve injury:
  • This resulted in functional impairment, including weakness in extending the wrist and fingers and difficulty regaining sensation in the nerve’s affected area.

Clinical Plan:

Metal Osteosynthesis (MOS) with a plate.

This advanced surgical procedure involves the use of metal plates to stabilize the fractured bone and ensure proper healing. It is a standard treatment for severe fractures, especially those caused by gunshots or involving multiple injuries.
