Circumstances of the injury:

On September 10, 2025, while operating in an active combat zone, I was injured. While trying to take cover in a tree in an attempt to disable an enemy drone, I was spotted.

At the moment of the fall, I felt almost no pain due to a surge of adrenaline. The real pain only began later, during evacuation from the combat area. Until then, I wasn’t focused on my own condition — the priority was to survive and complete the mission.

This experience made me see life differently. I began to value every single day more deeply and sincerely thank God for sparing my life.

Diagnosis:

Closed fracture of the distal third of the left radius.

• The radius bone of the left arm — one of the two bones of the forearm — was fractured;

• The fracture occurred in the lower portion of the bone, closer to the wrist, which directly affects hand and wrist movement;

• The skin was not broken, which classifies the injury as a closed fracture;

• This type of injury is accompanied by severe pain, swelling, limited movement of the hand, and sometimes visible deformity in the wrist area;

• A person is typically unable to fully use the injured arm until the bone has completely healed.

This diagnosis means that recovery requires immobilization of the arm, proper medical treatment, and time for healing, followed by rehabilitation to restore full mobility and function.

Clinical Decision:

Open reduction of the fracture with internal fixation using a plate and screws.

This surgical procedure involves:

• making a surgical incision to access the fracture site;

• carefully realigning the broken bone fragments and restoring them to their correct anatomical position (open reduction);

• securely fixing the bone with a metal plate and screws to prevent displacement and ensure proper healing.

This type of fixation helps reduce pain, provides stability to the fracture, and creates the necessary conditions for full recovery of arm function.
