Injured during rotation under heavy fire

March 10, 2025, during a nighttime rotation, a group of soldiers moved toward their position to replace fellow servicemen. Right after boarding the armored vehicle, it came under enemy fire.

As a result of shelling and drone drops, all the vehicle’s wheels were damaged. At one of the turns, the vehicle got stuck, and the team had to dismount immediately.

They found themselves in open terrain — a field with no cover. Within minutes, the area was hit by multiple-launch rocket systems, FPV drones, and mortars.

During the attack, shrapnel struck his leg in the Achilles tendon area: soft tissues were severely damaged, and both the tibia and fibula were fractured.

At first, he did not fully realize the severity of the injury — only felt intense pain. When he tried to step, his leg collapsed beneath him.

Despite the ongoing shelling and chaos, he managed to stay in control: he applied a tourniquet himself and called for help, reporting that he was wounded.

Gunshot injury. Traumatic fracture of the bones of the left lower leg with damage to the posterior tibial artery.

Metal osteosynthesis of the tibia fracture has already been performed.

To restore the damaged area, the bone defect was filled with cancellous bone graft material — a critical step in preserving the limb and enabling further recovery.

Treatment is not yet complete. Further surgeries and rehabilitation are ahead, and they will determine how fully the leg can recover.
