Circumstances of Injury:

At the onset of the war, Pavlo actively engaged in volunteer work, but felt it was not enough. He made the decision to personally defend Ukraine. October 29th was one of the most challenging days of his service: a three-day mission at the front, relentless rain, a grueling march under fire, and full combat gear. During this exhausting operation, Pavlo repeatedly fell due to the harsh conditions, ultimately sustaining a serious knee injury.

Diagnosis:

• Closed Injury to the Medial Meniscus of the Right Knee Joint (Grade II):
  • Closed Injury:
    • Damage to the medial meniscus (a key cartilaginous cushion in the knee joint) without any skin break.
    • Typically results from overloading, twisting, or direct impact to the knee.
  • Grade II Damage (Stoller Classification):
    • Characterized by tissue changes in the meniscus, such as a partial tear or splitting.
    • Does not extend to a full rupture or penetration of the meniscus surface.

Clinical Plan:

1. Meniscus Resection:
   • Partial or Complete Resection:
     • Surgical removal of the damaged portion of the medial meniscus.
     • Aims to alleviate mechanical obstruction in the joint, reduce pain, and preserve knee function.
   • Indications:
     • Grade II damage leading to persistent pain and restricted mobility.
     • Symptoms of “knee locking” or instability.
     • Ineffectiveness of conservative treatment measures.
