A severe leg injury sustained in combat.
A complex recovery lies ahead.
He was carrying out a combat mission when he came under fire. Today, the priority is to restore the bone and regain the ability to walk.
Brief overview of the case
- Date of injury: September 27, 2025
- Circumstances: combat engagement during a position clearance
- Injury: comminuted fracture of the femur
- Complication: bone defect up to 7 cm
Circumstances of the injury
During a position clearance, the unit encountered the enemy. In the course of the fight, he sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
He remained conscious. His fellow soldiers quickly provided first aid — applied a tourniquet and evacuated him to a relatively safe area, where he waited for further evacuation.
Medical diagnosis
Gunshot comminuted fracture of the upper third of the left femur with a bone defect of up to 7 cm.
In simple terms:
The thigh bone is broken into multiple fragments, and part of the bone tissue is missing. The defect is significant, meaning the bone cannot heal on its own without complex surgical intervention.
- large bone tissue defect
- loss of weight-bearing function in the leg
- prolonged recovery without proper treatment
What is needed for recovery
Restoring the bone requires complex surgical treatment.
Bone autograft and allograft reconstruction is a method that fills the bone defect using specialized materials along with the patient’s own bone tissue to restore its integrity.
The goal of treatment is to restore weight-bearing ability, ensure proper bone healing, and return the ability to walk independently.
Why support matters
Large bone defects do not heal on their own. Without treatment, walking independently may not be possible.
Timely intervention offers a chance to save the leg and restore its function.
Support helps him undergo this treatment and move closer to recovery.
