CAMPAIGN DETAILS
Circumstances of the injury:
While carrying out a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia direction, I was wounded. Despite the pain and danger, I kept going, determined to fulfill my duty. Of course, there was fear—but a true soldier does not let fear take control. Standing shoulder to shoulder with my brothers-in-arms, I drew strength from their support and our mutual trust, which helped me endure the stress and push through the hardest moments.
Diagnosis:
Closed injury to the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) of the right knee, sagittal instability, and chronic pain syndrome.
A closed ACL injury means the anterior cruciate ligament in the right knee has been damaged. This ligament is one of the key stabilizers of the knee, keeping it from shifting out of place. “Closed” means there’s no open wound.
Sagittal instability indicates that the knee has lost firm support, so during movement—especially running, jumping, or sudden turns—it may give way or feel unreliable.
Chronic pain syndrome means that the pain in the knee is constant, does not go away with rest, and limits normal movement.
Clinical decision:
Arthroscopy of the knee with ACL reconstruction using an autograft, secured with screws.
Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgery done through small punctures in the knee. A tiny camera and instruments are inserted so the surgeon can work without making a large incision.
ACL reconstruction means rebuilding the anterior cruciate ligament that was damaged.
An autograft is created from the patient’s own tissue—usually a tendon taken from the thigh or knee—to serve as the new ligament.
To ensure the new ligament stays firmly in place, it is anchored with special medical screws.
