Diagnosis:
Blast Injury (05/14/2024):
- Multiple Gunshot and Shrapnel Wounds:
- Injuries to the proximal shoulder, both forearms, thighs, and the left shin, with extensive damage to soft tissues and likely vascular and nerve involvement.
- Closed Oblique Fracture of the Left Femur:
- A diagonally oriented fracture with displaced bone fragments, requiring surgical realignment and fixation.
- Post-Traumatic Neuropathy of the Peroneal Nerves:
- Damage to the peroneal nerves resulting from the injury.
- Partial Paralysis of the Left Foot: Reduced mobility, making walking and foot control difficult.
Clinical Solution:
Metal Osteosynthesis (MOS) of the Femur:
This surgical procedure aims to restore the anatomical integrity of the femur using specialized metal hardware. Options include:
- Intramedullary Rods or Screws: Inserted into the marrow canal for internal stabilization.
- Plates and Screws: Used to align and hold bone fragments in place.
- Benefits of MOS:
- Stable Fixation: Ensures proper alignment of bone fragments to promote healing.
- Enhanced Recovery: Facilitates early mobilization and weight-bearing to minimize complications.
- Durability: Provides long-term structural support.
