Circumstances of the Injury:

On October 15, 2023, Oleksandr was at his combat position when a sudden mortar shelling began. One of the shells exploded nearby, burying him under debris. Despite the injuries and challenging circumstances, Oleksandr remained conscious and, fighting through the pain, tried to escape the danger zone on his own.

Diagnosis:

Injury to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) of the left knee.

The ACL is a critical ligament responsible for stabilizing the knee joint and preventing excessive forward movement of the tibia relative to the femur. Damage to the ACL can lead to knee instability, pain, and restricted movement, requiring treatment that may include physical therapy or surgical reconstruction.

Clinical Plan:

ACL Reconstruction Surgery for the Left Knee.

This surgical procedure involves replacing the damaged ligament with a graft. The graft can be taken from the patient’s own tissues (e.g., tendons) or made from synthetic materials. The operation aims to restore the stability and functionality of the knee, allowing a return to normal physical activities after proper rehabilitation.
