Circumstances of the injury:

On February 5, 2025, I was on one of the streets in Kherson when an enemy drone dropped an explosive device. As a result of the blast, I sustained seven shrapnel wounds across my body. One of them was particularly severe — a fragment shattered a bone in my left arm.

This injury has been an incredibly painful ordeal for me. Because of the broken arm and multiple wounds, I had to undergo difficult treatment and a long recovery process.

Diagnosis:

Consequences of blast injury from February 5, 2025: fracture of the distal third of the left radius with bone fragment displacement and bone tissue defect.

This means that as a result of the blast injury, the lower part of the left radius bone was fractured. The bone fragments shifted out of place, creating a defect in the bone tissue and disrupting the bone’s anatomical integrity.

Clinical Decision:

Open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of the left forearm radius using a metal plate (titanium or steel) with locking screws.

This procedure involves stabilizing the fracture of the left radius with a metal plate — made of titanium or steel — and locking screws. It is done to restore the bone’s integrity and ensure proper healing.
