Campaign details
Circumstances of the Injury:
On February 25, 2022, Oleksandr voluntarily joined the Ukrainian Armed Forces to protect his country and loved ones. Since then, he has courageously carried out numerous combat missions.
On April 25, during one such mission, Oleksandr was at his position when an intense artillery barrage began. Rushing to take cover, he sustained a serious injury.
Diagnosis:
Blast injury (April 25, 2024):
- Damage to the posterior horn of the medial meniscus and partial injury to the lateral meniscus of the left knee joint.
- Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
- Injury to the medial collateral ligament (MCL).
Details of the Injury:
- Meniscus Damage:
- The posterior horn of the medial meniscus is significantly damaged, causing pain and restricted mobility.
- Partial injury to the lateral meniscus compromises the joint’s stability and shock absorption capacity.
- Rupture of the ACL:
- The ACL is crucial for knee stability; its rupture leads to instability, especially during rotational or forward-backward movements.
- Injury to the MCL:
- This ligament provides lateral stability. Damage to the MCL causes difficulty in movement and increases the risk of further injuries.
Clinical Plan:
Reconstruction of the ACL in the Left Knee Joint.
ACL reconstruction is a surgical procedure to restore the integrity of the damaged ligament using a graft (either the patient’s tendon or synthetic material). This operation aims to restore knee stability, prevent further damage to the menisci, and reduce the risk of developing osteoarthritis.
