Circumstances of the Injury:

During a mission, while scouting for a position, Andriy and his commander came under intense mortar fire. The shell fragments caused devastating injuries: Andriy’s left leg was completely severed, a fragment shattered the heel bone of his right foot, and his right arm fractured during the fall. This all occurred within moments, leaving him in critical condition.

Despite the danger, his commander provided immediate first aid at the scene and organized Andriy’s evacuation.

Diagnosis:

• Blast Injury, Polytrauma (April 17, 2024).
• Closed fracture of the left humerus.
• Failure of a previously implanted metal structure.
