This injury involves damage to the internal structures of the knee joint, particularly the meniscus – a cartilaginous layer that ensures knee stability and cushioning. The injury occurred without any skin break (no open wound).

Therapeutic and diagnostic arthroscopy of the left knee joint.

Diagnostics:

Using a specialized camera (arthroscope), the surgeon examines the internal structures of the knee joint, including the meniscus, cartilage, ligaments, and capsule. This allows for an accurate assessment of the damage and its severity.

Treatment:

If a problem is detected during the examination (e.g., a torn meniscus), it can be addressed immediately.
Procedures may include removing damaged meniscal parts, repairing ligaments, or cleaning the joint of cartilage fragments and inflamed tissues.
