Injury Description:

A mine-explosive injury caused by an FPV drone. I thought I would lose one of my limbs.

Diagnosis:

Mine-explosive trauma. Fracture of both bones in the right lower leg.

The explosion caused an injury to the right leg, leading to fractures of two major bones in the lower leg:

• Tibia (shinbone): The primary weight-bearing bone was damaged, severely affecting the ability to stand and walk.
• Fibula (smaller bone): Also fractured, potentially impacting leg stability and movement.

The fractures may be comminuted (shattered into multiple pieces) or displaced due to the force of the explosion. These injuries are often accompanied by soft tissue damage and, at times, embedded foreign objects from the blast. Treatment involves surgical fixation of the bone fragments followed by rehabilitation.

This procedure involves the use of a specialized metal plate attached to the inner (medial) side of the tibia. The plate stabilizes the bone fragments in the correct position to facilitate proper healing.
