Campaign details
Circumstances of the injury:
During his withdrawal from a combat position, Oleksandr was caught in sudden fire from an automatic grenade launcher (AGL). The explosion caused shrapnel wounds, leaving him in a dangerous condition.
Diagnosis:
Gunshot fracture of the femur. The gunshot caused damage to the femur, one of the main bones of the leg. The injury not only tore soft tissues but also fractured the bone, requiring serious treatment, including surgery and subsequent rehabilitation.
Clinical Solution:
Intramedullary fixation of the femur. Intramedullary fixation of the femur involves using a specialized metal rod (fixator) inserted into the bone canal to stabilize the fracture. This method provides the following benefits:
- “Fracture stability: The rod ensures proper alignment of bone fragments, allowing them to heal correctly.”
- “Strength: This fixator withstands load-bearing forces, enabling patients to gradually regain mobility.”
- “Minimal impact on soft tissues: This is a modern and less invasive method of fixation.”
The surgery involves a small incision to insert the fixator into the bone canal. After this procedure, the fracture is stabilized, and the patient can begin rehabilitation under medical supervision.
